This was state of the art air travel in the UK in 1930. The HP42 cruised at 100kts and had a range of 500 miles. The aircraft were retired by 1939, but returns to service during WWII where all 8 were lost.

I think I might steal that top image. The H.P.42 and 45 get a shout out in November 17’s aviation history post. It had its first flight on November 14, 1930. Interestingly, they built eight of them (four each of the 42 and the 45), and gave them all names starting with “H”.
